DESCRIPTION:About this Event:\nDive into a world of adventure through the classic midwestern art of tabletop role-playing games! Sessions are entirely private\, hosted in the cafe side of the Scratching Post\, and we do mean entirely private: the cafe will be closed to everyone but cafe staff\, and your group!  \n  \nSessions will last approximately four hours\, with an ideal group being 3-6 players. However\, the game system played is extremely flexible; our GM is fluent in a wide assortment of popular role-playing games\, and is willing to work with you to provide your ideal experience!  \n  \nQuestions? Feel free to email our GM at persephonelovell44@gmail.com  \n  \nSee you at the table! \n \nAbout the Host:\nPersephone Lovell (Seph for short) is a notorious gremlin\, with a skillset befitting a gremlin. Moreover\, Seph is a classically trained actor\, who once flew very far away to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles\, and has appeared in countless independent theater productions and film projects! \nWhen not GMing\, you can usually find Seph with a blunt sword in her hand at Tempered Mettle Historical Fencing\, or pensively critiquing the last video game she played. DESCRIPTION:What You Get\nIn September our board game concierge is teaching some great games that aren’t even available for retail purchase yet and we’ll be keeping the spooky vibes strong in October with Inferno! \nEndeavor: Deep Sea was the 2025 Kennerspiel des Jahres winner! This is an award given each year to the best connoisseur board game or more complex games that are suitable for experienced gamers. \nLightning Train was pre-released at Gencon this year\, and we snagged a copy! \nInferno is a highly rated soul management game where each player must guide sinners to their respective circles in Hell. Another Gencon purchase we couldn’t resist! \nSome modern board game experience is necessary.  We will have the game setup when you arrive\, do a full teach of the rules and answer any questions along the way\, but these are much more complex games that will likely be difficult for someone brand new to the hobby. \nTicket includes full setup/teach/questions answered for the duration of the game\, your game pass for the entire day\, one free drink and a button for completing the concierge game!  You should expect any concierge game to take a minimum of 2 hours to complete. \nMore Info\nOne ticket per person. \nIt is always helpful to arrive 10-15 minutes early to park\, get your drink/snacks and get settled at your table.  Parking info can be found here. \nEndeavor: Deep Sea is currently out of stock at the publisher and Lighting Train won’t be available for retail purchase until September 30\, but you can play all of these games now at The Scratching Post and pre-order copies from us if you love them! Your reservation not only helps to cover the cost of their care\, but it also helps to socialize them\, even if you aren’t looking to adopt. Thank you!\n–\nAll of our cats come from local non-profit rescues and 100% of their adoption fee goes to the originating rescue. They are all spayed/neutered\, microchipped\, vaccinated and tested for many common pathogens.\n–\nAdvance reservations are the only way to guarantee time in the lounge. DESCRIPTION:Our library has over 500 board games\, both classic and modern.\n–Want to keep it simple with something like Monopoly or Jenga? We’ve got you covered. What something more modern like Catan or Ticket to ride? We’ve got those too. Want something brand spankin’ new you can’t even buy in the stores yet? WE’VE GOT THOSE TOO.\n–\nGame passes are $5/person for 2 hours and are first come first served for tables. We have lots of tools to help you choose a game (see our game picker linked below\,) learn a game without actually reading the rules (most games are stickered with a QR code that takes you to a how to play video….for those of you that hate reading rulebooks) or you can even bring in your own game/DND group/etc. Same game pass pricing applies.\n–PLUS we have snacks\, drinks\, alcohol\, cats (in their separate lounge but viewable from the cafe side through large windows) and all the good vibes.\n20% of the profits from our food\, drink and merch sales go back to our partner rescues.
