But WHY Can’t I Pick Up The Cats???

We have to prioritize the cats’ safety and stress levels in this environment.  When we take into consideration that many of them will have recently had spay/neuter surgery, many are still being socialized, many people don’t know how to properly handle a cat, many cats in general don’t like being picked up, and dozens of people will be coming through each day, potentially trying to pick them up, it just turns into an unsafe and stressful situation for both them and YOU…because you know…cats have teeth…and claws…and they’re basically perfect little fuzzy murder machines.

That said, something to consider is just because you can’t pick up a cat doesn’t mean they won’t come onto your lap on their own.  We want our lounge cats to learn that they don’t have to fear being picked up by humans constantly, they can choose what and who they want to sit on and interact with.  We have been to A LOT of cat cafes and the ones that implement this rule always have a calmer and more interactive group of cats.

So grab a toy, take a seat and help to teach our lounge cats that humans are safe and fun to be around.

Fifteen bucks to play with cats?!  It sure is.  These cats reign supreme here and we strive to keep them as comfortable and healthy as possible while they wait for their forever homes.  That means lots of cozy beds, toys, food, medical care, air filters, staff to tend to them and keep things sparkly clean, and litter..dear god so…much…litter.

The other half of our space is a board game café where there is a large viewing window into the cat lounge, a board game library of hundreds of games, and a menu of light snacks and drinks. Plenty of fun things to do if you have to wait, or just enjoy the board game café on its own
