What is a Mechanical Puzzle?
Mechanical puzzles are crafted from quality materials such as wood, acrylic or metal and come in many forms – assembly, disentanglement, interlocking, mazes, hidden mechanisms, and more.
Their power lies in their tactile nature: physical, collectible objects that invite direct interaction and spark curiosity. Each puzzle challenges the solver to persist until every secret is uncovered – whether by assembling shapes, unlocking a mechanism, or separating interlocked pieces.
Though rooted in ancient traditions, mechanical puzzles are experiencing a modern revival through online communities and live events. They can be cherished as gifts, collectibles, or shared moments of playful discovery.
For Participants
Join the competition and experience the fun of mechanical puzzle solving! Participation is open to everyone aged 14 and older, regardless of experience level. Registration runs through September, with limited spots at each venue.
On competition day, Saturday, November 28 at 3pm, participants collect their limited-edition competition kit at their selected venue and have two hours to solve seven original mechanical puzzles featuring different difficulty levels, mechanisms, and materials. Each solved puzzle reveals a word or number to record on an answer sheet, and participants keep the puzzle kit after the event.
Venue staff submit the answer sheets for review and scoring. Official solutions and global rankings are then published on our website, and prizes are shipped to the top performers in each category.
